Tandem Trader DVD Full Overview/Review
So after a long time of trading with several failures and learning the ropes. I have come across a few great traders that I would recommend you to listen to and absorb all the information they are willing to give out. I wanted to make this post to give thanks to Nate and to give you an idea of what the benefits are of buying both his DVD’s, more recently Tandem Trader. (For the purpose of the review I am not going to review the Interviews on the DVD)
This DVD, along with Textbook trading, completely changed my thought process for entering, exiting and placing a trade. If you have any questions and are interesting in purchasing this DVD, feel free to reach out or leave a comment below.
Watch the 20 minute free video below to give you an idea of what the DVD includes.
They also go over one of the most important factors in trading, cutting losses and following your trading “plan”. In my eyes a trade without a plan is basically hoping something happens, and hope in the market can punish your bank account. One, of the biggest points I got out of this section was “how bad do you really want this”. Never be complacent, and always continue to learn, because in trading the learning process never ends.
Trading with a plan and controlling your emotions was, I feel, the main point Nate was getting across in this section of the DVD. He goes over some of the basic trading concepts that we use when trading stocks, like what to trade (stocks with volume and stocks with large range during the day). Respecting your stops, resistance and support levels.
Paying yourself when you are right, is also one of the key points he discusses, as this one became huge for me on controlling emotions and letting the trade work for you. Also, over trading, avoid trying to take each and every trade out there, less is more.
Important Trading Topics Covered: Float Rotation, Sympathy Plays, IPO’s, Finding hot themes & sectors.
Find what works for you, my bread and butter is longing, contrary to most of the shorts in the room, the ABCD setup which he goes into detail and on live trades is my bread and butter play. Scaling in and out of any trade is ideal but with an ABCD long it can pay even more to take some off and be patient.
Nate teaches you what to look for on theses play and how to anticipate when they are setting up so you can actually be in the trade before the breakout occurs. Multiple time-frame breakouts formed with this ABCD pattern can be extremely profitable, so pay close attention to this chapter.
Important Trading Topics Covered: Gapper Plays, SSR Longs, Former Runners, Morning Wash-Outs
Set your risk, SET YOUR RISK!!! This topic on parabolic shorts is extremely important. The way he articulates this process is something you should watch over and over, and really have it hammered into your brain.
Shorting the front side of a parabolic move can be a very hard thing to master and with the “Nail and Bail” Strategy he teaches you in this process with be invaluable. He goes over 10 great examples of what this looks like, so pay attention and even write down some visual notes.
Important Trading Topics Covered: Divide by 10 Rule, Prior Day Highs, Emotional Covering, Thinly Traded, Emotional Covering
This chapter includes some excellent commentary by Cam and Nate on waiting for the backside of the move while holding or looking to enter a short position. Once in the trade, patience is key, waiting for that washout to cover into is what you are looking for on each one of these trades.
Again Nate goes over risk management in this chapter (this subject is paramount, hence the covering of it several times in the DVD). One of the other important section is, if a new trader, learning what to look for on the back side (lower highs and peaks at whole $ amounts).
Important Trading Topics Covered: Backside of Move, Patience, HOD rejections, Risk Vs. Reward
Now, let me say, I had been wanting to learn how Nate traded OTC’s ever since I saw him nail the bottom on panic plays every single time. This was by far my favorite chapter and really opened my eyes a lot more to the emotional aspect of the trading profession.
The level 2 information in this chapter is something to really pay attention to and absorb all of the information he is telling you (I watched this section about 5 times, with and without sound). If you have ever traded OTC’s or want to, this chapter alone is worth the price of the DVD. I won’t give anything else away on this chapter, other than, if you want the info, get the freaking DVD.
Important Trading Topics Covered: Bid/Ask Locking, Uptick on Air, Volume reversal, MM Emotional Games
This chapter is a MUST for anyone even trading, and a MUST if you are in the chat room as well. It will show everyone you have taken the time to learn the information and will make you sound more intelligent when asking questions. The topics covered here are a little bit of everything in the entire DVD, but this is also the most important section for newbies.
The CDTI float rotation example on this chapter is very detailed and very important, as once the float rotates a few times the stock becomes a trading vehicle and can do moves you wouldn’t think possible
Important Trading Topics Covered: L2 Mind Games, Stuffing, Fake L2, ECN Rebates, SSR, Add/Remove Liquidity, 50/50 Trades
Less is more. LESS IS MORE!!! Traders always wonder what to trade during the day. This is for a lot and was always one of my biggest issues. Nate goes over in detail what he looks for when adding a stock to his watch list for the following day. Scanning for stocks that are “in play” is key to having a successful day.
Important Trading Topics Covered: Scanning Stocks, Sympathy Plays/Scan, Dumper Scan
As my uncle used to tell me when working in his yard, “Kid why are you trying to work without these tools I have in the garage?” Trading with the correct brokers and tools is again, paramount, to your trading success.
This chapter details, what tools will fit any type of trader. Do you trade with your hands tied behind your back? Are you stuck by the PDT rule and can only make a few trades a week? This chapter will cover what your options are and how you can exponentially fix these issues.
Important Trading Topics Covered: Brokers, Platforms, DAS, Speedtrader, Suretrader
